Let us acknowledge
the strangeness of now:
my dubious reflection
might raise several brows.
Our world is erupting
on a scale yet unseen,
with our spanning voices
and facts yet to read.
We’ve become so distrustful,
fear the powers that be,
yet, we won’t unite–
our divides just increase.
Not now, nor in future
will humankind find
a common, resounding
point to stand behind.
Forever divided by
faiths and religion,
politics, science,
country and region.
To be optimistic
is to be blatantly blind.
Empathy, mindfulness,
are not easy to find.
And I admit, myself
I am no better than you:
we forever will argue
for what we each think is true.
