Because I said so,
Just do what you’re told,
Ask too many questions
And you’re out of the fold.
Believe what you should,
It’s a matter of leaping,
Too much education
And the questions come reaping.
Why would you ask
When it’s already made clear,
To all of your ancestors,
Drowning in fear.
Blood begets blood,
So we ought to shed more.
My hands won’t wipe clean,
Let’s write an escape door.
Don’t use a microscope
Don’t look at the angles,
You can’t make it your own
Or our Word is in tangles.
Context won’t matter
When you stand in beliefs,
So stand firm and ignore
That we’ve created our grief.
Let’s write now the enemy,
Make horned our mistakes,
And use troubled times
To write our heroes, “the Greats”.
Just go once a week,
And show off your bright face,
Accept handshakes and smiles
Or be named a disgrace.
Simply put, I say,
You sure ought to know
The truth is what it is
Because I said so.
