“Come with me!” said Toad to the dog,
“It’s time we see the world!”
“Bark!” Said the dog, “I’d love to, dear frog!
“What’s there to see? Oh do, tell me please!”
“The world,” said Toad, with a big friendly smile,
“is a very grand place, so big and astounding!”
“How big?” Asked the terrier, “more than a mile?”
“Bigger than that! It’s hard to believe!”
“There are mountains,” said Toad, “tall as the sky,
“and long winding rivers,
“so big and so high.
“But do you know what else? What else there is?
“There’s cities and people, so near and so far,
“It’s time, dear dog, that we go see it all!”
“How?” Asked dog. “By plane or by car?”
“Whatever it takes!” Toad declared with a shout.
“But how do you know?” Asked dog skeptically.
“Because once my ancestors came from the sea!”
“That can’t be true,” said dog doubtfully.
“It’s true, yes it’s true! It’s time you believe!”
“It’s hard to agree,” dog shrugged like it’d end,
“When I know very little about what you speak.”
“You’ll see it, I promise,” Toad told his old friend,
“Once you see the big world, you’ll understand.”
