The joy of Christmas
Comes our way,
With awkward talks
And parents’ dismay,
With grandparents asking
“Why not visit more?”
To which you reply,
“this year for sure”.
The same twenty questions
About school, work and love,
“What’s your plans for the future?”
None of the above.
But finally, turkey,
And all the wholesome desserts,
Then the children start screaming –
Those insufferable twerps.
You think the day’s done,
But you’re still in their grasp,
With “family fun” board games
“No more food, please!” you gasp.
Now your pants are too tight,
And with gifts – so much stuff!
Now home to your bed,
And credit debt to pay off.
